Finding Grace from Andy Sapp on Vimeo.

Where do I even start?

This digital film is the greatest gift I have ever given. This was created to be screened at my Jamie and Grace’s wedding… as a vehicle to help people understand the love between them. In the end, it served as much more. The storyline of the cinematic portion is essentially a metaphor for Jamie and Grace running off together and beginning their journey down the “Highway of Life”. This film created a chance for me to spend more time with them as a couple, and with the wedding party as a whole, to really get a solid understanding just how special their love is. You might even look at this film as my “seal-of-approval” as Jamie’s older brother… a proper send-off as they begin their lives together.

This film is hands-down my greatest work to date. To me, it marks a paradigm-shift in my abilities as an artist. I am no longer just a kid with a skateboard shooting video (although I shot parts of this with a skateboard). I have reached a level with my creative skill-set where I am able to effectively realize my vision… and execute it on a scale like never before. I have never attempted something like the cinematic portion of this film. Quite frankly, I was not aware that I was capable. It is safe to say that all of that has changed. I assumed a plethora of the roles to create this: Producer, director, cinematographer, editor, post-production/visual-effects. I stepped way outside of my comfort-zone, and the results speak for themselves.

This film could not be any more heartfelt. I am immensely proud of it… and my brother.
I am beyond excited that I can finally share this with the world.
I sincerely hope you enjoy it.

I feel extremely honored that I was able to turn my creative wrenches on this with the rest of the team at Southern Reel.
I am beyond proud of everyone for all the amazing hard work that went into this film.

All of that hard work really shows… and this film is genuinely awesome.
So excited to see it hit stores everywhere!!!

It is no secret that I love documentaries. I’ve watched a ton of them, even ventured out and made one myself. So it is without reservation that I say… “Searching for Sugar Man” is the best documentary I have ever seen. It took me a few weeks to really warm up to that statement because of the magnitude of such words. But I can no longer deny it. The documentary itself is superb. The animated bits were done by hand by the director himself. He shot parts of it with his iPhone. He went broke and nearly didn’t finish the film. But what gets me the most is the story of Rodriguez. This has to be one of the greatest stories ever told. EVER.

I simply cannot get over that it is real. It is a fairy-tale; simply unbelievable. Not only am I obsessed… but now I am a fan. Not only of Rodriguez himself, but especially of his music, and Malik Bendjelloul for telling this unreal (but totally real) story. This film won the Sundance Film Festival’s coveted “Special Jury Prize” and “World Cinema Audience Award”, and has been nominated for an Academy Award for “Best Documentary Feature”. Obviously I am not alone in my praise.

Special thanks to Charlie Smith for turning me onto this film. It is going to be a tough act for all documentaries to follow.

Keep Drifting Fun - Speedhunters 2012 Video of the Year

I can’t even believe it, but Keep Drifting Fun won Speedhunters Video of the Year! What absolutely blows my mind is that it beat out Ken Block’s Gymkhana 5, amidst a long list of equally fantastic videos. Incredible!

I am still super honored to have been a part of this project. Both in front of and behind the camera. I’m so proud of what this simple phrase has matured into, and even more proud of all the people who helped make it what it is today (you know who you are). It is truly amazing. And in case you’ve been living under a rock…
