Quickly rising to the top of my all-time-favorite band list, American thrashers Early Man dropped their new record “Death Potion” on the 20th. In the event that you like thrash, and you haven’t heard of Early Man… do yourself a favor and crawl out from under the rock in which you have been dwelling and check yourself. If this band’s riffage doesn’t satisfy your insatiable craving for that ever-perfect crunch then I don’t know what will.

Every song on this record is amazing, and it has been playing on loop since I snagged the MP3 pre-release of the album on July 10th. My favorite track is probably “Nine Riders”, but in all seriousness – every track is stellar. This drop was definitely worth the wait.

GO BUY IT NOW (or here on iTunes) and support these guys. NOW.

This is a roster representing some of the better logos I have designed over the years. Logo design was one of the main reasons I got into advertising/graphic design in the first place. I love the idea of a single graphic element capable of encompassing so much meaning, and leading the charge in overall representation to the public.

In a world saturated with advertising and marketing, a logo can make or break you. My job is to make sure the latter never stands a chance.

I rolled up my sleeves and got to designing some new decks that are up in the Slide Styleâ„¢ Deck Store… some of which I am really proud of.

Don’t forget about the BIG F’N SALE going on until the end of the week! Prices have never been so low, so get it before it is GONE.

HONDA NSX (EXTENDED VERSION) BY FORMAT67.NET from FORMAT67.NET on Vimeo.

I love everything about this breathtaking edit from Format67… the concept; the cinematography; the grading; the sound design… EVERYTHING. The superb attention to detail reveals a master craftsman at work. This video breaks the barrier between it’s creator and the viewer in an attempt to capture the soul of the automobile; the soul of racing; and the soul of the enthusiast; to which I think Daniel Michaelis and his crew accomplish a stunning victory.

This new MotorMavens deck and a bunch of other designs by my hand are once again available online!

I can make decks in different widths, from 7.25 all the way up to 8.25, including old-skool, pool, and longboard shapes – so if you see any decks in the store that tickle your fancy, but need a different size, just let me know! I will get re-sized and up in the store for you STAT.

I finally got my bike up off the floor using a proper storage solution with a Stolmen Bike Rack (via Ikea Hacker). I bought all the pieces to do this months ago, but just now got down to brass tacks with it. I couldn’t find any 20x20mm aluminum stock anywhere, so I ended up cutting up an ol’ car-mount for a video camera I had lying around that utilized the same square tubing. I wanted the bike to sit completely parallel to the wall, but I found that if I mounted everything just right (slightly off-center, with the bike at a slight angle) I could retain full swing of both doors. I’m sure if I ever build a second bike up (trick bike?) it will end up on here as well… but for now it makes a good place to keep my bag/lock/helmet.

I’m definitely excited how this turned out… and best of all – no more scuff marks on the walls from the tyres and handlebars!

Some crackhead smashed the window of my truck and ganked my iPod, GPS, and radar detector – none of which was out in plain sight. Instead of using a brick, rock, or old spark plug like a normal cracky – he used a screwdriver to pry the window past it’s threshold for shatter and bent the door frame in the process which now needs bodywork and paint to be fixed.

There is nothing worse than that feeling of violation when someone does something like this… and I feel confident that there is a special place in hell for people that break the golden rule of all golden rules. Never touch a man’s automobile. ESPECIALLY a zombie-killing truck. That just has bad karma written all over it.

I added a new feature to the site that breaks down time and software details for each project. It is my hope that it will help prospective clients get a better idea on what it takes to create the work that I do. Too many people STILL think that you just wave a magic wand and click a few buttons and BAM – you have good work. That has never been the case, nor shall it ever be such.

I rolled up my sleeves and got to customizing the WordPress interface so I could toggle this data field on (the default is off) as needed. It made for a good exercise, because I learned a few things in the process… and I am definitely pleased with the result!
