My good friends from Collective Efforts just launched a cohesive new website. You better know who they are from Slide America. They provided an insane amount of music for the documentary, making it what it is. They’re from ATLANTA and are pretty much THE BEST hip-hop around today. You think I’m joking? Check them out, and support what they’re doing.
Peep their latest video by Green Leather Sofa:
My buddy Will Roegge was in town working with the Tripp and Tom from Spitfire Studios… and the timing couldn’t have worked out better, because the second installment of Southeast Drift’s Triple Threat II was going down at Turner Field while he was here.
Will brought out his Letus35 adapter so we could try it out on my newly acquired XL-H1. I had heard a lot of great things about adapting 35mm camera lenses, but never had a chance to mess with it at all. Boy was I in for a surprise.
Here you can see ‘Man of Action’ Brady Stribling helping with the merger.

With the adapter, rails, and lens… it adds a significant amount of weight to the camera. By significant, I mean a TON.

Here we see my lovely girlfriend, Lieze shooting with the setup.

Petey says okay… the camera looks hella legit with all of that – but how does the video look?

Let’s take a look at some screen captures. These are straight from the camera – no post whatsoever.
For reference… we’ll start with a shot from the XL without the adapter. The focal length seems almost infinite.

The focal length is slightly different with the Letus35, don’t you think?

With the flick of the wrist, you can pull focus for an amazing look.

Brady is hysterical in this clip. “OMG ANDY SAPP #1!” hahaha. <3

Overall… it gives the digital medium the filmic quality that I’ve been after for years.

Special thanks to Will for turning me onto this bit of equipment. My credit card hates you in advance… because I can’t wait to get ahold of one of these!
This kit was super-easy to install, thanks to a detailed walk-through from FastM.com. I should have put these on the car years ago.
Pull the sidemarkers and trim from the headlights out. Then remove the clear lenses.

You’re left with a wide-eyed looking headlight.

Clip the angel eyes to the headlight.

Make sure it is hella flush approved.

(Not pictured) pull the wiring through the rubber boot in the back of the headlight housing and wire up accordingly.

Searchlights aren’t this bright.

Both sides wired up.

All the lenses and trim buttoned back up and ready to go. My driver-side headlight was shattered where Austin and I collided… so this was a good time to epoxy it back together.

My point-and-shoot does these things ZERO justice. They look awesome, and they are SUPER bright.

A box arrived today from Umnitza. I can’t wait to get these on the car.

Took the car up to Foerst Motorwerks today… it looks like the heat-shrink fell victim to the severe heat of the TMS World Challenge headers. The wiring for the O2 sensors came in contact with itself, which explains the intermittent nature of the problem. It was SERIOUSLY a pinhole size hole in the heat-shrink.
WORST. TIMING. EVER.

I bought some new Bosch O2 sensors, and Matt got it all wired up and back in running order. I haven’t tried to pull those ABS fuses again to allow use of my MAX hydro-brake… I will wait until after the event on Saturday to mess with it. The car seems to be running in tip-top shape… AND – the SES light is OFF?!?!
Luke over at Running Life just did a cool writeup about me and my deth black tyre killer!
