Sick Lipped.
A random snap of my good friend Tyler Clayton’s Weds. Tyler has some of the raddest sticker placement (and selection) on his cars out of anyone I know… and the DriftMechaniks sticker on the lip of his wheel is no exception.

Ridings3D Wireframe.
I happened to come across this wireframe that Ryan made while working on the 3D model of my e46. I know this was from an earlier stage of the modeling process… but I think this looks super cool!

Clash Production.
Stephane from CLASHPRODUCTION just posted an awesome digital short. I’m a huge fan of these videos. The editing… and more importantly the shooting style are superb. CLASH proves that having video capability is not enough. You have to have the eye and the heart to really make it work. It is safe to say that Stephane has both… because these videos are fantastic.
Definitely check out the official CLASHPRODUCTION website for more videos. You will not be disappointed.

Hired Gun.
My buddy Timbo gave me a call on Wednesday saying that Spitfire Studios was shooting a commercial for Cartoon Network, and they needed a stunt driver. They rented a Mustang for the shoot, but at the last second asked if I could bring the e46. So last night, I gladly trailered ol’ grrrl up, and headed smack-dab downtown to the 5th floor of a parking deck next to the Marriott.
They rented the entire parking deck out, and sprayed it down with water for a better look on-camera. The focus was on these super-cool plastic figures, that are part of CN’s new action flick campaign. They were shooting with an insane RED camera in 4K HD. The image playback was AMAZING. They were using a SKATER dolly, and were remotely rack focusing between the character and the drifting.

Setting up for the 2nd series of takes.

Monitor detail. This picture does the clarity and detail quality of the video zero justice.

Setting up for the 3rd series of takes. This time on a large dolly.

5 stories up, my marks down.

This shoot was an amazing opportunity, and an awesome experience. It is a little different having to hit your marks every time when there is a full crew depending on you. It was similar to hitting normal clipping points… but different pressure-wise. BIG thanks to Timbo for the referral, and to Spitfire Studios for having me out. I never thought I would be allowed to drift through a parking deck in downtown Atlanta, and get paid in the process.
The commercial should begin airing next week… so keep an eye out on Cartoon Network!

Death Magnetic.

As a die-hard fan, and a tough critic… I can honestly say – Metallica’s new record is GREAT. The thrash is back on most of the album, and it sounds amazing. It isn’t the same as Kill ‘Em All… but nothing ever will be. I really thought Metallica’s day had passed… but Death Magnetic makes me think otherwise.
The artwork on the digipak is very cool as well. Individual die-cuts on each page added a nice touch to the warm-toned grayscale images that lie within. There are even a few cool type treatments here and there.

It’s been a long time since I’ve been really excited about a new record. I just hope it sells… so they put out another one. In fact… I bought the CD, and the MP3’s off iTunes just in hopes that they will.
