I took the e46 up to Foerst Motorwerks today so we could get her prepped for the Southeastdrift event in Greenville next weekend.

Delicious Steve stopped by sporting his custom Slide Styleâ„¢ Hot Wheels. He just picked up some aero for his ride…
I can’t wait to see it kitted out!

Lieze and I went down to the Savannah College of Art and Design (the campus IN Savannah) Friday to attend their motion graphics symposium: Inspire ’08.

Inspire '08

The line-up of guest speakers was amazing. I was super excited to hear how these motion graphic juggernauts flex some of the amazing work that they do. They didn’t get into the technical side as much as I wanted… but provided an amazing look into the creative process behind it all. I definitely left with my gears turning… inspired how to improve my own work, and step everything up a bit.

Inspire '08 - Psyop

I’ve been a huge Psyop fan for close to 7 years now. They were the speaker I was look forward most to hearing.
Even if you’re not familiar with Psyop… you are certainly familiar with their work.

This piece for MTV HD is simply amazing.

Brand New School gave a lot of insight to the challenge behind making the Adobe CS3 Mural. This fully interactive “billboard” has realtime motion tracking, and animates the motion graphics depending on how you interact with it. It is not a static animation… it is fully dynamic, and changes every time you walk by it.

The entire project was built strictly using every aspect of the Adobe Creative Suite:

Stop-motion guru PES had an interesting Q&A session, complete with a stop-motion animated fireplace to set the mood.
Yes, those are candy-corn.

Inspire '08 - Pes

One of my favorite PES films:

Another amazing short by PES:

Eric Anderson from Digital Kitchen also gave amazing insight behind his creative process, dealing with studio executives, and his creative process.

We had a chance to walk around historic Savannah a good bit… which looks a LOT like historic New Orleans. We stopped by the film and video building on campus… and I was blown away at how amazing their facility is. Especially in comparison to how lack-luster the facility is at the Atlanta campus.

Outside the film building we saw this van. “FREE CANDY” has nothing on this awesomeness:

We loaded up the E46 on the trailer this morning, and took her up to Chateau Elan for ClubBimmer.net’s attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the largest caravan. The old record was 269 Mini Coopers, which was broken by this attempt with 271!

The weather was less than optimal… and I think more BMW’s enthusiasts would have made it out if it wasn’t storming. The drive was 10 miles in length, from Chateau Elan to Road Atlanta. Famed Gumballer Alex Roy led the drive in his polizei wrapped E39 M5. It was definitely a sight to see BMW’s in a single line from horizon to horizon!

It was pouring the whole time… so I didn’t take too many pictures.

There’s a news article about the drive here.
